Research
For the research for this, I will explore a range of topics and genres of musicals. This will allow me to understand the range of skills needed. Investigate professional productions to gain additional understanding of what it takes to perfect this project.
Planning
To complete this project, extensive planning will be required to ensure the project goes smoothly. The plans I will follow throughout the project will need to be extensive and established, ensuring a complete product at the end of the project.
Resources
Throughout this project, there will be many resources to my avail, giving me ample chance to complete this project to the best of my ability. I will have at my disposal several resources available to me such as the recording studio, and the music and sound equipment.
Professionals
In this video, Lin-Manuel showed an in-depth viewpoint on how to create songs that follow along with a storyline. Studying the way Lin-Manuel works is very mesmerizing, as he suggested creating a song based on the mindset of the characters. Lin-Manuel stated that his lyrical inspiration in everyday, Mondaine tasks, such as walking his dog.
Plan
For my FMP, I will be aiming toward producing a range of songs for the musical that I have been writing, this musical follows the life of a struggling teenager who is going through a challenging fate of self-discovery, mental health challenges, and bullying. While working on the soundtrack, I will be amending the storyline for the musical and creating a scripture and libretto alongside: additionally connecting my love for creating together. However, these additional pieces will be a side project I will complete and not for my FMP.
I would like to take inspiration from this song as I feel it would create a great moment between the Main Character and his parents, this would create a sombrely and saddened moment between them; creating a moment of tense, but also trusting moment for the parents to find out about the Main Character's feelings.
This is another example of a song I would like to take inspiration from to incorporate a community feeling of togetherness.
