Finding My Way
An Original Musical
FMP: Scott White
This is the first prototype that I created, without many ideas on what I wanted to do. Despite this, I believe I gained some good ideas to start with, however, I was unsure about what I needed to complete to ensure this would work with my ideas and where I can progress from this.
For this Prototype, I wanted to make a simplistic piano loop, which I aimed to make it sound melodic and calming. I believe I could improve this prototype by holding the chords down for longer; giving a nicer rhythm and a more calming sound.
In this prototype, I recorded a guitar loop, which I thought sounded superb. I then wanted the guitar loop to have a melody beneath it. Adding several strings and chords to build the suspense of the song, with an additional melody that changes about halfway through the song.
I wanted to make this prototype sound much different than the others. To do this, I used synths to build up suspense, while adding some strings to continue building that suspense. Additionally, I added a melody playing in the background to give the prototype a finished feel, making it more mellow and resolvable.
With the Prototype, I believe my music began to sound more professional. I feel as if I was able to bring the listeners in and wanting to hear more. For this track, I was imagining something magical and mysterious, where I started off with some lonesome mysterious chords, and began to build up adding a simple bass riff, with some drums to tie it all together. However, I believe to improve this prototype, I could finish the track giving the listeners an ending.
This is the first Prototype that I created and ending for: I was enjoying making this track so much that I found it hard to stop. Once again, I wanted to create something magical, but this time with stringed instruments. Also, partway through this Prototype, I wanted to change things up and add a part which didn't sound like the start. I feel as if I did the effectively, but I believe this track could be mastered and edited to make it sound better.
This is another track where I wanted to incorporate a guitar into it. However, I didn't want it to sound too similar to Prototype 3, which is why I used only a guitar and piano for this track. I believe I could improve this track by ensuring the guitar is sounding crisp and without any background noise, however, I believe both the piano and the guitar compliment one another nicely.
