United and Strong

United and Strong is a group song which will be performed partway through the show, with a reprisal that will be played nearer to the end of the song. The meaning of this song is that the Main Character, who we see as being all alone and fighting himself to get through his pains, meets the community group and is welcomed in.

While Creating these lyrics, I was faced with a number of challenges. 1. Unsure where to start the song. 2. Struggling with ensuring they rhymed and fit together effectively. 3. Imagining what the song would sound like.

Eventually, after asking for my classmates and singers for their advice and oppinions, I was able to come up with the new lyrics which worked for the song and flowed much better than the original ones.

Furthermore, a number of lyrics wasn't working when we were rehearsing my song. Due to that, there was a number of struggles I faced attempting to amend these lyrics so they would work with the song.

This is the first demo track we recorded, and we worked on getting my vision into performance; we recorded this take to remember how I wanted it to sound. While working on this demo, I was provided with some great advice and inspiration; which gave me the confidence and the ability to change certain words in order for them to flow better with the song.

The changes made were great adaptations and worked well with the song. I believe that we were able to record some good takes for this song, where we can progress it further into a finalised piece. I feel that the song requires some male singers and voices, to give it more emphasis to the meaning, and will require additional takes to ensure the singing is professional sounding.

This is the final version of my song. For this, we recorded the last bit of vocals that I was missing, ensuring we had recorded all the vocals ready for me to start editing and mastering my song. Due to being tight on the amount of time, we had to record the last vocals, we could not re-record some vocals I would have liked to make sound similar to the rest. This is something that I can go back and re-record at a later date as I continue producing and writing the musical.

Despite not having all the vocals sound the same, I believe we were able to record some good takes, which gave me the ability to begin adding some effects and mastering the song.

Furthermore, I created a cover artwork for the song, I thought it was missing something which would make it feel more complete. To create this, I made the cover look similar to the artwork I created for the musical, I also provided the names of the singers and performers to make the cover look like a professional song
